300 invited to Swansea University event
Sat 17th Oct
Swansea University has brought back its Collaborate event, which will take place on Tuesday.
The day will once again be dedicated to celebrating and promoting collaborative projects and partnerships across the industry, academia, health boards and other organisations.
Bringing together more than 300 representatives from across the region and beyond, the event is hosted by the medical school's Enterprise and Innovation Team, Academic Health Science Collaboration, Abertawe Bro Morgannwg and Hywel Dda university health boards.
Alongside the event's high profile speakers, including Professor Mansel Aylward, of Public Health Wales and the Bevan Commission, Professor Ifan Evans, of the Welsh Government, and Kathryn Davies of Hywel Dda Health Board, there will also be a series of themed workshops and tours of the Institute of Life Science facilities.
Other confirmed speakers include Professor Marc Clement, of Swansea University, as well as Sian Harrop Griffiths and Hamish Laing of ABMU.
Professor Keith Lloyd, Dean of the medical school, said: "Swansea University Medical School's enterprise and innovation team is responsible for working with individuals and organisations, companies and businesses to deliver projects and innovations that will benefit the health and wealth of people near and far.
"Our Collaborate conference this year celebrates and promotes these collaborative projects and partnerships with a view to creating new opportunities that build on our success.
"A centrepiece of this year's event will be a regional collaboration for health and the opportunities it creates for research and innovation in support of improved health outcomes, new enterprise, skills development and job creation."
The event will run from 8.15am to 4.45pm at the Taliesin Arts Centre on the Singleton Campus.
